You awake one morning and find it almost impossible to get out of bed. Back pain, or perhaps neck pain.

What causes back pain and is it connected to water intake? The discs in our spine can be compared to miniature hydraulic shock absorbers.. made up of an outer shell of flexible joint tissue with a pocket of fluid inside... fluid which is mostly water.

An intake of enough water on a daily basis is an easy and effective way to prevent most minor back and neck pain naturally. When a spinal disc is properly hydrated with fluid ...... the outer shell supports 25% of the weight put on the disc while the fluid inside supports 75% of that weight. Once the disc becomes dehydrated .... the shell has to support more of this weight .... subsequently causing swelling, soreness and pain ...... which in turn can lead to more serious .... often permanent ..... problems.

With the proper amount of water intake on a daily basis the discs are kept fully hydrated ..... thus being able to function properly,....preventing the pain that results from the disproportional shift of weight bearing on the disc.

Often a job calls for standing for long periods of time or sitting for hours at a desk.

During any activities in which the body is called to stay in one position for any prolonged length of time without movement such as the above .... the continuous, constant pressure on the discs causes the fluid to be forced out of the disc. A lack of proper levels of fluid in the discs .....combined with a lack of movement of the back ....causes the pressure on the outer shell of the disc to become greater ... causing swelling, pain and stiffness.

This can be prevented by making sure the intake of water is regular and adequate along with keeping body movement regular ...such as moving
